Vision Of Hell is perhaps the hardest sounding song on the album. Obviously about the lockdowns and their impact on personal liberty as well as interpersonal relationships. But also about the way society is becoming increasingly “woke” with the destruction of history and the unacceptance of any opinion that does not conform with the prevailing narrative. I had also re-read Orwell’s 1984 not long beforehand which also had some influence.
WHO CAN SAY? – I CAN’T SAY?
SEEMS THIS WORLD HAS LOST ITS WAY
WHO CAN TELL? – I CAN’T TELL?
IS THIS SOMEONE’S VISION OF HELL? VISION OF HELL, VISION OF HELL.
PLEASE DON’T GET TOO CLOSE TO ME
SEEMS YOU’RE MY NEW ENEMY
HUMAN CONTACT NOT ALLOWED
SO KEEP YOUR DISTANCE AWAY FROM A CROWD
WEAR YOUR MASK OR YOU CAN’T COME IN
DISINFECT YOURSELF I DON’T KNOW WHERE YOU’VE BIN
LET ME TAKE YOUR TEMPERATURE
YOU GOTTA BE SAFE YOU KNOW YOU GOTTA BEWARE
I MUST TRACK EVERYWHERE YOU GO
WHO YOU’VE SEEN AND WHO YOU KNOW
TRACE THOSE PEOPLE YOU HAVE MET
YOU KNOW YOU’RE A TERRIBLE THREAT!
NOW YOUR CHILDREN CANNOT MEET
IN THE PLAYGROUND OR IN THE STREET
STAY ALONE COS THAT IT BEST
HUMAN CONTACT MUST BE SUPPRESSED
HISTORY MUST NOW BE CHANGED
GENDERS MUST BE RE-ARRANGED
AGREE WITH ME AND KNOW YOUR PLACE
OR THE THOUGHT POLICE WILL BE ON YOUR CASE
BIG BROTHER WANTS YOU TO BE CLEAN
SO STAY HOME AND WATCH YOUR TELESCREEN
TELL ME PEOPLE COS I`M NOT SURE
IS THIS 1984? IS THIS 1984? IS THIS 1984?
